Legacy Jackson

Legacy Jackson is a shero in all aspects of her life. At the young age of 10 she is known as a philanthropist and an inspiring girl who is working hard to make a positive impact on the world. Legacy’s drive is contagious and when she decides to do something, even if it seems impossible, by the time she finishes everyone around her is helping her make it happen. As a younger girl, 4, Legacy volunteered with her family a lot and she always wanted to know why there were no children helping. These questions quickly turned into her insisting that she start a group for kids to volunteer which is now a 501c3 community service organization, established in 2016, appropriately called Little Legacies. Last year her organization received the highest honor and was named by the White House as a certifying organization for the Presidential Service Volunteer Award.   Legacy has been recognized on the State of MO Senate floor and she has received numerous awards, plaques, and proclamations.  She started a library of over 2,000 books for the Annie Malone Children’s Home, sent over 3,000 pairs of shoes to Africa, and has provided luggage sets, book bags, and play dates for homeless children in the metropolitan area, to name a few of her monthly outreaches. She has partnered with The Gateway 180 shelter, the Humane Society, Karen House, St. Louis Children’s Division, Children’s Hospital, Mercy Kids Cancer Center, and the O’fallon Park Rec YMCA to name a few.

Legacy has shown commitment and leadership to Girl Scouts of America as a member for the past 6 years where she is a spokesperson, on the media team, and recently earned the Bronze Award, the highest award a 4th or 5th grader can get. She has been on the news, featured in the 100th birthday video, is on the cover of the annual publication, and is on billboards across the Greater Eastern MO.

Legacy is a dancer with Best Dance and Talent Center and she just successfully completed her 4th year dancing competition. She finished in the top 10 nationwide and next summer she will travel to New York City to dance with the Rockettes.

Resiliency is the characteristic that Legacy has that most admire the most. On January 7, 2017 her life was forever changed when her big brother, Brendon Ogunnaike, passed away due to complications with Type 1 Juvenile Diabetes. Legacy decided that she wanted to write a book in memory of him to help people learn to celebrate “life after life.” Legacy is also a published author and “Bubbles for Brendon” is available at all major bookstores and on Amazon.

Legacy is an inspiration who understands that you have to be different to make a difference. 2 weeks ago she competed against over 200 girls in the state of Missouri and she was crowned Miss St. Louis and the first runner up for the entire state! Please join me in welcoming our guest Entrepreneur Legacy Jackson!
